| Have you ever heard these names used when Doctor's of Chiropractic are discussed and wondered where the names came from? Well....
In 1963, during a meeting of the American Medial Association (AMA), the group determined that the chiropractic profession had become the fastest growing branch of healthcare. In an effort to slow down or stop the growth of chiropractic, the AMA board decided that four terms should be used by medical doctors whenever patients or the media would ask them for their opinion of chiropracic. The words? Quacks, Charletons, Killers and Rabid Dogs. Quacks and Charletons appear to have been accepted by the AMA's members and from that point on, these words were used. It was nothing more than a marketing move by the AMA to slow down or stop the chiropractic profession's growth. While in office, former president Jimmy Carter once said that the American Medical Association's sole interest is in the financial benefit of its members.
